Early Readers/Adults Learning to Read/Bilingual Readers

(Please pass this information along to your beginning reading friends!)

Children are not the only ones learning how to read. Adults and speakers of a foreign language learning English might feel comfortable reading some of our new selections in the Children’s area. We are constantly updating our Easy Readers category but also have included simple informational reading books in the Activities and Learning, Animals and Foreign Language categories, as well.

By typing in Okomi as a series title, you will be given the names of books put out by Dawn Publications in association with the Jane Goodall Institute. These unique picture books contain stories that are easy to read and contain real facts about chimpanzees. They can be found in the Animals section.

By typing in Math Matters as a series title, you will be given a list of books that show readers how to use math in real-life situations while supporting their reading skills. These short books found in the Activities and Learning section are fun to read aloud, as well.

For non-English speaking patrons, the Foreign Language section in the Children’s area contain bilingual books which are full of pictures and stories to make reading and understanding a new language easier. Spanish speakers might enjoy Let’s Read About Our Bodies/Conozcamos nuestro cuerpo which teach readers to appreciate and care for the different parts of their bodies in both English and Spanish.
