Math Tutors Needed!
We are in desperate need of math tutors
(especially pre-algebra, algebra and occasionally geometry).

► If you are interested in becoming a tutor, please begin by filling out the Volunteer Opportunities form below.

The Lifelong Learning Center also offers proctoring (testing supervision) services.
► If you need a proctor, please fill out the Proctor Application form below.

Prospective tutors should also feel free to contact us to make an appointment for an interview and orientation.

Following the orientation, tutors will be matched with a student based on the compatibility of the student's needs and the tutor's skills.  An appointment is made for the tutor and the student (and parent(s) if it is a minor or child) to meet with the literacy coordinator in the Lifelong Learning Center office.  The tutor and student determine the best time for the tutoring sessions to take place. Generally, students and tutors meet once a week for an hour. These sessions can be held any time that the library is open.  Meetings cannot take place in private homes. Confidentiality is important.  The Lifelong Learning Center coordinator is available to follow-up, and support and assist as needed.

Commitment: Minimum of 2 hours per week for 2 months.

Assist in preparing library materials (books, CD’s, DVD’s, etc.) for circulation. Mend damaged books and magazines. Requires training, accuracy, attention to detail and fine motor skills. Also requires a long term commitment and willingness to work a scheduled shift of at least two or more hours once a week.

Tutor students of all ages and/or need in a variety of subjects through the library’s Literacy Program. Requirements: Good writing, reading, and/or math skills; interest in helping others improve their skills. Must pass criminal background check (at library expense). Commitment: Minimum of 1-2 hours per week for at least 3 months.

Occasional need for help with special events & projects of short duration, lasting from a few hours to a week. Activities may include serving food, folding/distributing flyers, helping at the fair, setting up for meetings or presentations, etc.
